With more than 2,500 international students from 100+ different countries, Binghamton University is rich with different cultures and perspectives. Binghamton has won eight U.S. national awards for internationalizing the campus and its coursework.
It’s important to us to make sure our international students are set up to succeed at Binghamton. That’s why we provide a range of different resources to assist you academically, professionally and socially throughout your college journey.
The Office of International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) connects international students and helps them make a comfortable transition to the University. Students are provided immigration and employment guidance, and also have opportunities to participate in social programs such as a monthly international coffee hour.
The English Language Institute (ELI) assists with academics and adjusting to college life. Students can take credit-bearing academic English classes and take advantage of the Tutoring Center for help. ELI Conversation Pairs is a volunteer program in which native English-speaking students are paired with non-native English speaker to spend at least one hour a week together outside of the classroom setting.
Binghamton's international student organizations assist newly-admitted and current international students adjust to life at Binghamton and in the U.S. These clubs also provide the opportunity for all to learn about different cultures.
The University Counseling Center offers support to Binghamton students in a variety of ways, such as through programs on managing stress, developing and sustaining healthy relationships, and building coping skills to better manage college life.
The award-winning Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development is a nationally recognized career center dedicated to providing opportunities, education and connections that prepare students from all majors and backgrounds for advanced education, careers and successful futures.
